Kate Rutter is a designer, design educator and entrepreneur who writes and speaks about visual thinking, entrepreneurship, lean startup, design and user experience. Kate's consulting business helps product teams use visual methods to communicate, collaborate and create amazing products. She teaches in the Interaction Design program at California College of the Arts and co-hosts the NSFW podcast "What is Wrong with UX.” Kate believes that every problem can be made clearer by communicating in pictures and that sharpie pens smell like ideas.
Kate’s visual practice includes graphic facilitation, sketchnoting and illustrations for the books Build Better Products (Laura Klein, Rosenfeld Media, 2016) and The Startup Equation: A Visual Guidebook to Building Your Startup (by Steve Fisher and Ja-Nae Duane, McGraw-Hill Education, 2016.) She designed the UX curriculum at Tradecraft, Co-Founded the lean UX company Luxr, and was a Sr. Practitioner and consulting lead at Adaptive Path.
