Dr. Wanda Eugene is Co-founder and Managing Director of DEEP Designs, LLC, a women and minority owned human-centered design and technology company with an emphasis on designing for niche demographics. Our mission is to support our clients in moving from a “messy” idea to life-changing technological innovations. Working with for-profit industries, nonprofit organizations, government entities, and startups we support the development of new technologies or re-centering of existing products and services. With more than 25 years experience designing, developing, and implementing technologies, we are confident that our research-based strategies will position your idea to make a difference in the marketplace.
Also as the Executive Director of Computing and Society Engagement (CASE), she has launched Entrepreneur Diversity in Information Technology (EDIT), a free pre-incubator program that works with underserved minorities to launch tech-based businesses. A key program feature is teams of graduate students who actually build participants' ideas. In parallel with this work, she serves as a Research Assistant Scientist in the University of Florida Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, Department of Computer & Information Science & Engineering, where she explores how cultural, social, and personal surroundings affect the appropriation of computational artifacts and ideas of how they can serve as a resource for the design of new technologies.
